Qatar Foundation is committed to helping deliver the most inclusive FIFA World Cup™ ever. Scroll down to explore our key accessibility initiatives, including the Ability Friendly Program, Sensory Rooms, Audio-Descriptive Commentary, and the Accessibility Volunteers program.
The Ability Friendly Program supports young people of all abilities to engage with sports and developmental activities. It involves specialized camps, football classes, and swimming classes tailored to different groups–such as individuals with learning difficulties or those with visual, hearing, or physical impairments.
Education City Stadium is home to the country’s first permanent sensory room, with spectacular views from Skybox 1. Designed for people who find the stadium environment too stimulating or overwhelming, the Sensory Room offers a calm and nurturing space to enjoy the game. It houses interactive games, fidget toys, and noise canceling headphones, as well as catering facilities.
Live audio-descriptive commentary will be provided throughout the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, enabling fans with visual impairments to experience the game. This unique experience is made possible by a team of specialist commentators who have been trained by the Translation and Interpretation Institute (TII) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University.
Through our partnership with FIFA, we’re providing specialized training for Accessibility Volunteers to help create a more welcoming experience for football fans from all backgrounds. Aside from the thrill of experiencing the FIFA World Cup™ from behind the scenes, these volunteers will be prepared to better serve people with disabilities for the rest of their lives.
Packed with over 30 attractions and experiences, this guide has been created to help people of all abilities enjoy Qatar and all it has to offer.
